Cedars Heart Program Remains #1 in California, Best In The West and Now Top 2 In US

Drs Caren, Nayeri and Urman are proud to be attending cardiologists in the Cedars-Sinai Smidt Heart Institute, once again ranked # 1 in Los Angeles and California, Best in the West and now is in the top 2 cardiovascular programs in the country for 2023 – 24 by US News & World Report. In addition, Cedars-Sinai Smidt Heart Institute continues to be ranked among the top 10 specialized hospitals in the world for cardiology and cardiac surgery by Newsweek. Since 2011, the Cedars-Sinai Smidt Heart Institute has been ranked # 1 in the Western US, California and Los Angeles, since 2013 our heart institute has been ranked in the top 10 heart programs in the nation and since 2018 it has been ranked in the top 3 heart programs in the the nation by US News & World Report. Not only are more adult heart transplants performed at Cedars-Sinai annually than any other institution worldwide, the interventional cardiologists and surgeons at the Smidt Heart Institute have performed more percutaneous mitral valve repairs and aortic valve replacements than any other U.S. medical center and for several years running it remains one of the top 3 cardiac programs in America along with the Cleveland Clinic and Mayo Clinic.

In addition, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center has been named the # 1 hospital in Los Angeles and California for 2023-2024 with seven Cedars-Sinai specialties earning the # 1 ranking in Los Angeles and five specialties being ranked # 1 in California (four of which are in the top 2 and five are in the top 5 in the US) including Cardiology, Heart and Vascular Surgery (in addition to Gastroenterology and GI Surgery, Orthopedics, Pulmonology and Lung Surgery, Urology, Obstetrics and Gynecology, and Neurology and Neurosurgery for the city rankings). These rankings mean that Cedars-Sinai is once again on the prestigious Best Hospitals Honor Roll for 2023 – 2024 as one of the top hospitals in America (for the eighth consecutive year). This year, U.S. News selected 22 hospitals from across the nation for the Honor Roll. Departing from its previous practice, U.S. News did not rank the hospitals in order. The last time hospitals were ranked in order, in 2022 – 23, Cedars-Sinai was ranked the # 2 hospital in the nation. In total, eleven specialties at Cedars are ranked nationally, meaning Cedars-Sinai is among the top hospitals in the nation in these clinical areas. Nine of the specialties ranked in the Top 10 (and four in the Top 2) in the U.S. The rankings are based on patient outcomes, patient experience, technology, reputation according to surveyed physicians and a variety of other health-related measures.
